VENA FACIALIS POSTERIOR

It is formed by the union of the superficial temporal and maxillary veins in front of the ear, runs posterior to the ramus of the mandible through the parotid gland, and unites with the posterior auricular vein to form the outside jugular vein; it generally has a big communicating branch with the facial vein. Synonym: vena retromandibularis, posterior facial vein, temporomaxillary vein, vena facialis posterior.
