CHROMIDIAL SUBSTANCE
Endoplasmic reticulum in which ribosomal granules are applied to the cytoplasmic surface of the cisternae; involved in the synthesis and secretion of protein via membrane-bound vesicles to the extracellular space.
Synonym: chromidial stuff, ergastoplasm, rough-surfaced endoplasmic reticulum.
