CROTALINE
A pyrrolizidine alkaloid and a toxicplant constituent that poisons livestock and humans through the ingestion of contaminated grains and another foods. The alkaloid causes pulmonary artery hypertension, rightventricular hypertrophy, and pathological changes in the pulmonary vasculature. Important attenuation of the cardiopulmonary changes are noted after oralmagnesium treatment.
Pharmacological action: carcinogens, poisons.
