ENVIRONMENTAL VARIANCE

Within a population, the measure of how many of the variation of a special phenotype is due to environmental factors (as opposed to variations in genotype. An example might be the height of a human as certain by such factors as nutrition or infectious illness during childhood. See: genetic variance.
