ISOLYSIN

An antibody that combines with, sensitises, and results in complement-fixation and dissolution of cells that contain the specific isoantigen; isolysin's occur in the blood of some members of a species and they react with the cells of that species, but not with the cells of the individual (or the same type) in which the isolysin's are naturally formed.
