LAMINA BASALIS

The ventral division of the lateral walls of the neural pipe in the embryo; it contains neuroblasts giving rise to somatic and visceral engine neurons. Synonym: lamina basalis, basal plate of neural pipe, lamina ventralis, ventral plate of neural pipe.
